Mutations III, TRUCK Contemporary Art, Calgary (Alberta) Canada - 2014
In this exhibition, I occupy the main space through a vast staging of disparate objects, gathered from local residents and sharing centers. By extracting these everyday consumer goods from their domestic passivity, I create genuine sculptural landscapes and temporary makeshift architectures. The project unfolds as a poetic yet critical dialogue on consumerism and obsolescence: by accumulating this debris for its metaphorical weight, I challenge our visual habits through clever optical illusions and shifting perspectives. The artwork thrives on a permanent dialogue between the host gallery's objective cartography and my own subjectivity, which transfigures industrial waste into an organic structure. By inviting the public into an active wanderment through this viral accumulation, my physical occupation of space stands as a gesture of poetic resistance. I offer a laboratory for survival and collective memory, where the reorganization of these daily fragments subverts the logic of art-as-commodity to erect a sanctuary that is both precarious and monumental.
