Constellation, The Promenade Fleuve-Montagne: A legacy of Montréal’s 375th anniversary, Montréal, Québec (Canada) 2017

Created as part of the legacy of Montreal's 375th anniversary, Constellation, curated by Stéphane Bertrand,embodies the core concepts of my artistic practice regarding ephemeral architecture, the subversion of everyday materials, and human connectivity. Anchored to a construction scaffold that merges with the glowing icons it holds, the artwork engages in a raw and immediate dialogue with its historical counterpart, the Beaux-Arts style Custom House. The installation assumes the configuration of a star constellation — evoking the familiar shape of the Great Bear (Ursa Major) — to outline a random path shaped by gestalt, allowing us to re-examine our own earthly trajectory within the cosmos. Actively confronting the surrounding neighborhood and the narrative of the "smart city," this visual configuration critically and poetically questions our current state of instantaneity and modern communication platforms. By converting digital symbols into physical landmarks, Constellation highlights how we have become interconnected particles of data through smartphones, shifting the public space into a dynamic arena for human exchange.
